Choosing conductive fabric tape for an EMI project

Start by defining whether the tape is intended for electrical contact, grounding, shielding or mechanical attachment. These objectives require different acceptance evidence. A conductive-looking backing alone is not enough to confirm performance in a finished assembly.

Information for technical review

Describe the contact surfaces, joint geometry, required conduction path, shielding test or frequency range, dimensions and environmental conditions. Send a drawing and the intended test method with the enquiry.

Evaluation and next steps

Ask for data for the complete tape, including its adhesive and backing, and test the actual joint. Keep the acceptance criteria separate for electrical continuity, shielding and mechanical retention; request evidence for each applicable requirement.

These guides help prepare a material evaluation. They are not a confirmed product specification or a diagnosis of your assembly. External references explain general principles; their product ratings do not apply to UONEI tapes.
